- "The Charles Lee Ray I know kills without remorse. His violence is pure, it's glorious! Push one little girl off a building and go to pieces?"
- ―Dr. Mixter to Good Chucky.
Dr. Amanda Mixter is a psychiatrist operating out of Hackensack. She was also Charles Lee Ray's therapist when he was 7 years old, and knew him as "Charlie".
Biography[]
In 1965, Charles first came to the Burlington County Home for Wayward Boys after both his parents were murdered. He begins seeing a young Dr. Mixter, admitting to her that he was the one who killed his mother. She is impressed by his pure and unremorseful violence, and decides to nurture his murderous qualities by stamping out the strain of innocence and naivety within him. During their sessions, she questions him on his favourite methods of killing, either planned or spontaneous, and the two spend time dancing together. The two eventually lose contact after Charles is forced to flee the orphanage in 1972, when he murders the janitor.
Chucky: Season 1 (2021)[]
Chucky meets with Dr. Mixter in her office and explains his plan to create a Chucky army. As he requires an innocent child to kill someone for the spell to work, he turns to her for advice on how to go about it. Thumbing through photographs of Junior, Lexy, and Jake, Dr. Mixter explains to him that teenagers are ruled by hormones, emotions and anxieties. In order to push them over the edge, Chucky must traumatize them.
After being diagnosed with stage 4 cancer, Bree Wheeler begins seeing Dr. Mixter without her family's knowledge to work through her feelings. During one of their sessions, Bree finally decides to tell her family about her diagnosis, so she no longer has to go through it alone. At their next session, Dr. Mixter asks Bree if telling her family was unburdening, but she replies that it was horrible as her pain was not meant to be shared. Bree also reveals that she made another decision, that she is going to refuse treatment for her cancer, in order to spend her remaining time with her family. Dr. Mixter worries about Bree being depressed, but she reassures her that this is the first time she hasn't felt hopeless in weeks.
Shortly after this session, Bree dies in an apparent suicide attempt by falling to her death. Dr. Mixter goes to the Wheeler house to help Junior and Logan through this tragic occurrence, explaining that when some patients are faced with their own mortality, they try to take control in any way they can. Before leaving, she tells them if they ever need to talk, not to hesitate to give her a call.
Chucky: Season 2 (2022)[]
Dr. Mixter has taken over family therapy for the Crosses following the deaths of Michelle's husband, Nathan, and Lexy's boyfriend Junior, the latter of whom was blamed for the massacre at the showing of Frankenstein. During family therapy, Caroline insists that Chucky was behind the murders, which has given her a strong fear of dolls. Michelle and Lexy try to convince Caroline that Junior really was behind the killings. Believing this is a good starting point to Caroline's recovery, Dr. Mixter gifts her a Wedding Belle doll. She explains that she has been collecting dolls since she was young. She had contracted polio as a child, remaining bedridden for two years, and her dolls were her only friends.
After the death of Jake's foster brother, Gary, the District Attorney and Dr. Mixter blame Jake, Devon, and Lexy for building a homemade bomb resulting in his death. Instead of sending them to a facility for violent juvenile offenders, Dr. Mixter suggests they be sent to Incarnate Lord, a Catholic reformatory school where she used to volunteer.
Some time later, she is called to Father Bryce's office about his concerns for Devon, showing them the crucified Good Guy doll on the wall. He blames her for allowing violent kids to be admitted to his school, and explains that Devon may be better suited to a youth facility. She believes that she can still help him, so Father Bryce allows Devon to stay. That evening, Dr. Mixter leaves the school and heads to a secluded cabin in the forest outside of Incarnate Lord to meet with the Chucky known as "The Colonel". She informs him that the Chucky inside Nica, "Chucky Prime", has escaped from Tiffany's mansion and is heading for Incarnate Lord. She also tells him that the kids are still alive. When she asks to kill them for him, the Colonel refuses as he no longer wants to deny himself that pleasure. She warns him against this as she believes he is getting too risky with his self-indulgence, and that every dead Chucky brings him closer to extinction. Ignoring her words, he orders her to take him into the school. Before they go inside, Dr. Mixter reminds him that he must make the kids' deaths look like suicides or accidents.
Walking down the halls they are spotted by Jake, who realizes that she is aware of Chucky's existence. Dr. Mixter continues walking with Father Bryce, who asks where she got the doll from. She comments that the doll adds a value to her therapy sessions, using it to symbolize her patients' trauma. When he questions if the doll scares the children, she remarks it only does if the kids have evil in their hearts. She excuses herself, and walks away to wait for Lexy and Devon to return. She states that she is aware that they were spying on her and the Colonel, that he is coming to kill them and she is going to watch.
Later in the evening, Dr. Mixter receives a phone call from Chucky Prime, informing her that he will arrive at Incarnate Lord by midnight. She tells him that he needs to hurry, as both Buff Chucky and the Colonel are dead, leaving only Scout Chucky left. Hanging up, she introduces herself to Sister Ruth, who believes Chucky is Jesus Christ. She explains her plan to "resurrect" Chucky by separating Chucky Prime from Nica and back into a new doll body. And to ensure her plan goes smoothly, she arms Sister Ruth with a gun and instructs her to bring in a hostage after the soul transfer is successful. She then makes her way to Jake and Devon's room to retrieve Scout Chucky, locking the kids and Andy inside the room. She becomes frustrated at him being good, and further explains that she needs his Good Guy body for Chucky Prime to possess. Suddenly, Father Bryce and Sister Catherine enter the hallway. Scout Chucky calls out for their help, which Dr. Mixter pushes off as "ventriloquism". When Chucky begins reaching for her gun, she tries to grab it out of his hand, accidentally shooting Sister Catherine in the process. Just then, Andy manages to break open the door and tackles her, causing both of them to fall down the stairs. They wrestle over the gun, but she manages to get the upper hand and pistol whips him. She returns upstairs holding Andy, Father Bryce and Sister Catherine at gunpoint, and waits for Jake and his friends to return from the tower with Scout Chucky. Jake is forced to hand him over just as Kyle enters the hallway. The two work out a plan to perform an exorcism on Scout Chucky to allow Nica and Chucky Prime to separate, and afterwords Dr. Mixter will leave with him. Dr. Mixter again reiterates that she needs the Good Guy body for Chucky Prime to possess as things are too messy by having Chucky occupying a human body (Nica), and that plastic is much more resilient than human flesh.
In order for the exorcism to work, everyone involved must confess to Father Bryce and do their penance. In the confessional booth, Dr. Mixter does not offer any confession and simply states when the exorcism is finished she will unleash Chucky on the world all over again. And since Father Bryce is sworn to keep her confession secret there is nothing he can do to stop her. When he orders her to get out, she asks if he believes in eternal life. She remarks that even though he preaches it, she knows its true source.
Death[]
In the evening, the exorcism commences. Everyone restrains Chucky as they chant and Father Bryce throws holy water on him. Eventually Chucky's soul is freed from the doll, at the expense of Father Bryce who is killed by Chucky's soul possessing him. They then proceed with the soul transfer, separating the Chucky from Nica's body and allowing him to possess the Good Guy doll. Jake then takes Chucky and attempts to drown him, only to be stopped by Sister Ruth entering the chapel with Lexy as her hostage. Dr. Mixter is allowed to take Chucky back and the two make their way out of Incarnate Lord.
Before they leave the school, Chucky suddenly knocks her to the ground by punching her in the face. He turns on her, and forces her to switch souls with him. In Dr. Mixter's body, Chucky carries the doll as Andy runs behind them and shoots the doll in the jaw. Chucky drops the doll and runs away, allowing Andy to shoot the doll to death, unaware that Dr. Mixter's soul resides inside.
Trivia[]
- After Chucky switched bodies with her, he leaves her body devoid of any soul after he transfers his soul into another Good Guy doll. Dr. Mixter's corpse is later discovered at her office, which is believed to be death by natural causes.
- Dr. Mixter is quite possibly Chucky's first female accomplice, before Tiffany, since she knew that Chucky killed his mother but chose not to report him to the authorities.
