Death On Denial is the fourth episode in the second season of Chucky.

Synopsis[]

Tiffany's secrets are threatened by a surprise intervention.

Plot[]

At Jennifer Tilly's mansion, Glen and Glenda question Tiffany about the blood on the floor. She tells them it's corn syrup: a trick for social media views. She directs her two kids to the couch and away from Detective Gavin's corpse. Tiffany engages them in small talk—their love lives, school, and though the two tell her they both are dating a guy named Paul, they quickly redirect the conversation back to her, her alcoholism, and her finances. She denies the issues, but is flabbergasted when Glenda brings up Nica Pierce. She tells them that she met Nica at a charity event, that she was mentally ill, but barely knew her. Glen excuses themself from the table, and, once alone with their mother, Glenda asks Tiffany if they ever hurt someone, and that they hear Chucky's voice inside of them. Though Glenda tries to openly express their struggles with their identity and the suppressed memories of killing Joan, Tiffany squashes the attempt at vulnerability, before quickly changing tack, and saying that she wants her children to be happy. Meanwhile, downstairs, Glen tries to open the door to Nica's room, but is caught by Tiffany, and Jeeves, a butler she hired for the occasion. She escorts Glen back upstairs and places Jeeves on guard of the bedroom. Upstairs, Glen and Glenda surprise Tiffany with Jennifer Tilly's co-stars from Bound, though she is very caught off-guard. They plead with her to get help for what they see as a floundering Jennifer in a self-destructive downward spiral, but Tiffany is annoyed and unamused.

Later in the night, Jeeves serves champagne to the party guests. Jennifer Tilly's sister Meg toasts to the family. Glen and Glenda cheerfully discuss showbiz with Meg, but are interrupted when Tiffany makes a dramatic entrance, having changed into the dress Tilly wore at the 1994 Oscars. Meg tries to apologize to Tiffany, and questions why she had not seen her sister for 24 years. Tiffany shuts her down, even when she begs to know what she did that offended her so much. In the other room, Jeeves pesters all the houseguests with increasingly offensive comments. When Jeeves goes on a rant about Glen and Glenda's gender identities, she whisks him away back to guard the door and tells him under no circumstances is he allowed to move. She goes back to the main floor only to find the place deserted. The lights go off and she gets an alert that someone has breached the door to Nica's room. She freaks out and finds Jeeves dead and Nica's room deserted. Another alert informs her that the exterior of her home is secure. She is then startled by Meg placing a hand on her shoulder. The other guests then find them, startled by the butler dead on the floor. Thinking on her feet, Tiffany declares that the party is a murder mystery and that the object is to figure out who killed Jeeves and who opened the bedroom door. Though the houseguests readily take to the idea and search Jeeves' corpse to find his actual wallet and ID, Tiffany takes it and declares it to be unimportant. She smells the champagne bottle from which Jeeves was drinking, and immediately identifies the poison to be arsenic, both to herself and as a "clue" for her guests. She sends all her guests back upstairs, but is visibly worried and sends Meg upstairs with a shove when she bends down to feel for Jeeves' pulse. In a window, two silhouettes which appear to be Glen and Nica go by.

Tiffany assembles the company and goes over the facts: Champagne was served at 8:00. Jeeves' died at 8:30 when the lights went out. Given there are no other bodies, the bottle must have been poisoned after the champagne was initially served. The houseguests question each other, Jeeves' offensive comments serving as motive for all of them. Tiffany gets another alarm chirp on her phone, and goes to check it out, holding a candelabra for light. Gina Gershon sneaks up behind her and startles her. Gina and Tiffany discuss the former's love-life with Jennifer, and Gina begins feeling Tiffany up as she gets more and more uncomfortable. Tiffany asks Gina if she actually killed Jeeves, but Gina thinks it's a joke and in good fun. As Gina leaves to prepare a surprise for "Jennifer", Tiffany enters the master bedroom and begins searching for Nica. As she's looking through the closed, Joe Pantoliano comes up behind her and forces himself on her. When Tiffany asks if he killed the butler, he says he'll tell her if she performs oral sex on him. She hurries out of the room, leaving Joe with his pants around his ankles. Simultaneously, in another room, Glen swears to Nica that they didn't kill the butler, that he was dead when they came to get her, and that they organized the surprise party with Glenda to distract Tiffany long enough to rescue Nica. Only there's a problem: the new security system Tiffany installed to prevent Nica's escape means they can't simply sneak out the backdoor, and with the power out, they can't use the elevator. However, the good news is that the room where Glen and Nica are hiding is untraceable by the app.

In a flashback three months prior, Glen and Glenda wait for Tiffany to drink herself to sleep and find the amputated Nica. Nica reveals that Tiffany has kept her trapped for a year as a lover, unable to do anything, and that she's wanted in five states for murders she did not commit. The two decide to rescue her. Just then, Tiffany wakes up, so with Nica's consent, they regag her and leave the room. Glenda turns around, having forgot their knife, and accidentally cuts their finger, causing Chucky to gain control of Nica. Chucky laughs, and recognizes Glenda immediately. He compliments them, but Glenda accuses him of being a deadbeat father. He tells them that he's not a deadbeat, that he wanted to stay, but Tiffany left him and took the children. Incensed, and thinking these are just more lies, Glenda turns to leave, but stops when Chucky calls them by the nickname he used back in Seed of Chucky: "Shitface". In the present, Glen watches over Nica as she begins to experience phantom limb pain. Glen shares that they feel similarly, but in a more philosophical way, both of them having experiences where "[their] brain [has not] caught up to [their bodies]". Nica calls Glen a good kid, and unlike their parents. When Glen asks if Chucky is as crazy as Tiffany, Nica says that he is. Glen is disheartened by the news, but at that moment, the power comes back on. Immediately, Nica and Glen spring into action. Glen brings Nica to the elevator from the adjacent room that was hidden behind a bookshelf. The elevator doors swing open and reveal Joe, dead. The blood on his forehead brings Chucky out, who laughs at the carnage. Glen is startled by the transformation. Chucky reveals himself and asks Glen if they're ready to go kill Tiffany. Before Glen can respond, Glenda hits Glen on the back of the head, knocking them unconscious. Glenda tells Chucky that Glen lacks killer instinct and would never have agreed to the murder. Glenda wheels Chucky upstairs, having fitted Nica's body with prosthetic arms. When Tiffany turns around, Chucky draws the gun and points it squarely between her eyes.

Tiffany begs for her life as Chucky decides where to shoot Tiffany: the head or the heart. The party guests are confused as to whether it is part of the game or not. Chucky fires, but the gun has no bullets. Chucky freaks out and Glenda frantically apologizes, saying someone must have taken the bullets. In a rage, Tiffany slaps Chucky, forcing him back down and Nica back up. Tiffany immediately apologizes for harming her. Just then, Glen runs into the room and shouts for Nica to go. Nica bolts out of the open door, wheeling as hard as she can. Glenda asks Glen what they're waiting for: they can all go. But Glen doesn't want to leave their mother, since she, along with the both of them, have mental health issues and need help. Glenda says that's fine, but tells their twin to ask her who "Tiffany Valentine" is. With that, Glenda goes after Nica. Tiffany tries to close the gates, but Nica races through them and up the ramp of a van that has pulled up. Glenda climbs over the gates as the driver introduces herself, Kyle. Glenda folds the ramp back into place and gets in the passenger seat. Kyle asks about Glen, but Glenda says they aren't coming and to drive. Tiffany begins to lose it completely, wailing and wailing. She locks herself in her room to applause from her co-stars.

In a post-show interview in front of a live studio audience, Chucky brings out WWE superstar Liv Morgan to discuss how the plot of the episode happened. Glenda killed Jeeves with the strychnine. Gina, confronting Joe about his assault of Tiffany, shoots him to death with a gun she got for Glenda's birthday. Chucky then rolls a tape of Liv Morgan's aspirations within the Chucky franchise, and her desire to be brutally murdered by Chucky. The killer obliges, drawing a knife and stabbing her repeatedly to death to cheers from the audience, punctuating each stab with an f-bomb.
