"Help me! Help me! Dr. Ardmore, Chucky's here! He's coming to kill me!"
―Andy calling for Ardmore.

Dr. Ardmore is a children's psychiatrist at the County General Hospital in Chicago.

Child's Play (1988)[]

Ardmore is called in by the police, to watch Andy as he is interviewed by two detectives about his presence at two recent murder scenes. When he is warned that unless he tells the truth he will be taken away, Andy confronts Chucky, begging him to say something and demanding to know why he lied to him. Now scared, Andy rushes to his mother Karen, telling her Chucky is doing it on purpose and that he told him he would kill him if he ever told anyone about him. Dr. Ardmore, watching from behind the glass, finally announces his presence. After seeing more than enough, he suggests Andy stay a few days at the hospital. Having no real choice, Karen hands her son over.

As Andy looks out the window in his hospital room, he sees Chucky crawling up the stairs and tries calling Ardmore for help. Thinking he is very troubled, Ardmore sympathetically puts his hand over Andy's before quickly leaving to get assistance. Chucky manages to get into Andy's room, but by that time Andy had escaped. After spotting Andy running away, Ardmore orders his guards to chase him. Andy finds his way downstairs and into an operating room, followed by Chucky. After Chucky knocks Andy down to the ground, Andy picks a scalpel up and prepares to defend himself.

Death[]

Andy is terrified when he is suddenly seized by Dr. Ardmore, who makes him drop the scalpel before putting him on the operating bed. As Andy frantically tries to escape, insisting Chucky is still in the room, Ardmore attempts to calm him down by giving the boy a sedative. Picking up the scalpel, Chucky stabs Ardmore in the back of his leg, causing him to fall on the floor.

Chucky picks up an electrical phrenology helmet and straps it on his head, then activates the shock therapy machine at full power. As Andy looks on in horror, Ardmore's head is fried until he begins bleeding from his eyes and mouth, eventually dying. The police later discover the aftermath of the doctor's death, with the belief that Andy murdered Ardmore while escaping.
