- "I always judge people so harshly. I think that's because of how hard I treat myself. The church has always been a refuge for people like me. It never fully accepted us either."
- ―Father Bryce confessing to Sister Catherine.
Father Bryce is the headmaster of Incarnate Lord, a Catholic reformatory school.
Chucky: Season 2 (2022)[]
Father Bryce delivers a sermon as Jake, Devon and Lexy arrive at the school. He talks about how sin is a choice, as is God, and that every confession is a victory. After the sermon is finished, he meets the three in his office and shows the boys to their room. He explains that they are forbidden from fraternizing with the girls, in order to avoid the temptations of the opposite sex.
When Sister Elizabeth dies of an apparent heart attack, he makes the announcement to the students about her passing. He tells the students to go back to class, but Jake, Devon and Lexy stay behind to talk to each other about Chucky. Father Bryce approaches them, explaining that he knows their history, and remarks that Chucky is just a doll before telling them to go to study hall. Once in class, Jake excuses himself to go to the bathroom, but in reality he is headed to Father Bryce's office to hunt for Chucky. Father Bryce catches him in his office, and decides to have a one-on-one talk with him. He explains that Jake is lost, but he can lay down his burdens and become a son of God. Reaching into his desk, he hands Jake a bible and tells him to find a passage that speaks to him, as his own father did with him as a child. He leaves Jake alone with the Good Guy doll in his office until study hall is over, then checks back in on him to find Chucky is gone. He sits down at his desk and asks Jake to open the bible, instructing him to read John 8:44, a passage about choosing to do the devil's desires. He then asks Jake to choose to do the right thing, to tell him where the doll is. Jake insists he does not know, and with a heavy sigh is finally allowed to leave.
Three days later, he has Jake in his office again to ask him where is the doll. He wants Jake to choose to do the right thing and bring the doll back, but tells him that he will not wait long for the doll to be returned to his office. The next day, Father Bryce walks through the hall and sees Jake and Devon kissing in the hallway. He is appalled at this discovery, and waits in the halls for Devon, who is feigning an illness, to leave his room. He questions him about his "illness", asking if it is less biological and more philosophical, that being guilt. He orders Devon to follow him and punishes him for Jake's theft of the Good Guy doll, by forcing him to clean the religious objects at the chapel until the doll is returned. He then argues with Sister Catherine about his methods on punishing innocent kids to send a message about what is not tolerated, in this case about Jake and Devon's relationship. Just then, Jake enters the room and argues about Devon's unfair punishment and pushing off Father Bryce's invitation to come to his office and read scriptures. He then explains that people's sins tend to hurt those around them before leaving the room. He walks back to his office and is surprised to see the Chucky doll sitting on his desk, so he dismisses Devon from his hard labour.
He later walks back into his office, and sees Devon having seemingly crucified a Good Guy doll on the wall. Believing this to be a disturbing act of blasphemy, he takes Devon to the chapel and explains that his "particular brand of wickedness" requires a firmer hand to be corrected. He gives him a bible, telling him to read through Leviticus before leaving back to his office. He calls in Sister Ruth, Sister Catherine and Dr. Mixter, showing them the crucified doll and chastising them for the reign of terror that has occurred since Jake, Devon and Lexy arrived. He wants Devon removed and sent to a youth facility to straighten him out, but Dr. Mixter insists that she can help him, so he is allowed to stay.
The next day, Lexy and Devon have gone missing. Father Bryce calls all of the students to the chapel, informing them that two students broke one of the school's rules by leaving without permission. As punishment, the school is placed on lockdown, and all of the students are forced to stay in their rooms until further notice. After locking everyone in their rooms, he and Sister Catherine find Lexy and Devon returning to the school with Andy. They claim him to be a drifter in need of their Christian charity. Although Father Bryce is hesitant to allow Andy to stay as the school is on lockdown, Sister Catherine takes Andy inside to help him.
During the evening, Sister Ruth enters his office to show him Buff Chucky, whom she insists is the reincarnation of Jesus Christ. He becomes concerned by this, and asks her to pray with him so that this "fever" that has overtaken her shall pass. He then reminds her that the school is on lockdown, and orders her to stay in her room for her heresy. Later in the night, he and Sister Catherine are walking through the halls and happen upon Dr. Mixter, who is carrying Good Chucky. As Chucky grabs for the doctor's gun, she struggles with him and accidentally shoots Sister Catherine in the process. He and Sister Catherine then witness Good Chucky running away, finally becoming aware of the living dolls at their school. He asks Sister Catherine where she is "psychicly", and remarks that they should call the Vatican. However, before they can do anything, they are held at gunpoint by Dr. Mixter. Just in time, Kyle arrives with her own gun, and works out a plan with Dr. Mixter to perform an exorcism on Good Chucky to allow Nica and the Chucky inside her to separate. Father Bryce is put in charge of performing the exorcism, and asks Sister Catherine to assist him. He wants to call the Vatican for approval first, but is swiftly excommunicated by the Pope. Although he is no longer an ordained priest, he decides to go rogue to do the exorcism to save his students.
In order for the exorcism to work, everyone involved must confess their sins and do their penance. As he is the only priest, he must give his confession to Sister Catherine. In the confessional booth, he explains how he always judged people so harshly because of how had he treats himself for being gay. Even though the church is a refuge for people like him, it never treated them kindly either. He always knew he wanted to be a priest regardless of the fact that he is gay, which caused him so much conflict in himself that he became at odds with everyone else. Although as part of the exorcism everyone is required to do penance for their confessions, Sister Catherine gives him nothing as she believes he has already punished himself enough.
Death[]
In the evening, the exorcism commences. Everyone restrains Chucky as they chant and Father Bryce throws holy water on him. After a while, Chucky vomits on Father Bryce, then begins convulsing and seemingly faints. When Father Bryce comes in closer to look, Chucky bites a chunk of his lip off. After this little scare, they continue chanting as Father Bryce throws holy water on him. Eventually Chucky's soul is freed from the doll, but it finds a new home in Father Bryce. The two fight over control of the body, with Father Bryce commanding Chucky to go to Hell. As Chucky retorts "You first Father", his body explodes in a bloody mess, leaving only his head intact.
