Halloween Horror Nights is an annual event that occurs at Universal Studios. Each Halloween, this event features haunted houses, "scare zones", and live entertainment, many of which utilize Universal's characters and other licenses. This includes the Child's Play antagonist Chucky.
Chucky's Insult Emporium[]
This show was first known as "Chucky's In-Your-Face Insults" in 1992 at Universal Studios Hollywood, but it was re-introduced as the Insult Emporium in 1999. For the show, Chucky is seen sitting atop a balcony staring down at the crowd, throwing insults at them for ten minutes.
In 1998, to promote Bride of Chucky, the name was changed to "Chucky's Wedding Chapel" and featured a Tiffany doll. She was only used for one year.
This show was cancelled in 2008, due to complaints of its offensive nature and adult content. However, it was briefly re-opened in 2013 following the release of Curse of Chucky.
Chucky's Funhouse[]
This is a maze used in 2009 at Universal Studios Hollywood. The theme involves Chucky taking over an old carnival funhouse and raising an army of killer dolls to take his revenge on humanity. Chucky is seen sitting on a mini theatre stage, chatting and insulting guests before they enter the maze.
The maze itself is a basic horror set-up, with scareactors, screams, and scary backdrops. Chucky's laugh or quotes can be heard intermittently, and a silhouette of him can be seen in waving at guests. A section of the maze is set up with Good Guy dolls lining the room, and a scareactor dressed as Chucky.
Chucky: Friends 'Til the End[]
This is a haunted house used in 2009 at Universal Studios Orlando. The theme involves Chucky having "tinkered with your favourite childhood playthings" to turn them evil and force the guests to experience what it's like to live in Chucky's world. Guests enter the house through a Good Guy doll box, with Chucky ripping through said box. The scareactors are all dressed as twisted toys, and 80's rock music is heard throughout the house.
Haunted House Scenes[]
- Guests walk through a revolving tunnel while the Child's Play theme plays, and Chucky can be heard giving the voodoo chant.
- Guests walk through the Good Guy doll factory from Child's Play 2, and Chucky bursts through walls of doll boxes as boxes fall on guests.
- Guests walk through a room filled with little Green Army Men toys, shooting guests with toy pop guns. Chucky will pop up, wearing a green helmet and shoot with a real gun.
- Guests enter shrine dedicated to Chucky's bride, Tiffany. This serves as a distraction for burnt dolls with melted faces to attack from the walls.
- Guests walk through the factory once more, only to have multiple Chuckies attack from all sides.
Terror Tram: Chucky's Revenge[]
This is a backstage tour that was used in 2010 at Universal Studios Hollywood, where Chucky hosts a tram ride though the Halloween Horror Nights.
The ride is introduced by the host, explaining that a party is to be thrown for the 50th anniversary for the film Psycho, but Chucky has taken control and recruits some of the most infamous killers in horror history to help him take his revenge on Hollywood.
The ride ends with a delay happening before they can return to the theme park, and a security guard finding Chucky, who then kills him. When the tour guide tries to contact Universal headquarters, Chucky hijacks it and complains about having his Insult Emporium cancelled.
Chucky: Lagoon Show[]
This show, used in 2012 at Universal Studios Orlando, features water curtains with fountain effects and lights over a lagoon. It was one of four lagoon shows.
It used a screen with clips from the Child's Play films, and the use of Meet Bambi in the King's Harem Mix of "More Human Than Human" by White Zombie. Each show lasted two minutes.
Scare Zone: Curse of Chucky[]
This is a scare zone used in 2013 in Universal Studios Hollywood, following the release of Curse of Chucky. The zone features things involving Child's Play, the scareactors are dressed as Charles Lee Ray or Chucky, and there are Good Guy doll vehicles and Chucky dolls around the zone.
Terror Tram: Titans of Terror[]
This is a backstage tour that was used in 2017 at Universal Studios Hollywood, where Chucky hosts a tram ride though the Halloween Horror Nights. The ride also features other horror icons, such as Leatherface, Freddy Krueger, and Jason Voorhees.
The ride is introduced by Chucky, explaining how he has learned a new spell to possess anyone, and that he plans to kill everyone on board. The riders are greeted by multiple scare actors dressed as Chucky when they start walking through the zones.
The ride ends with Chucky killing the tram driver, threatening to crash it if everyone doe not start promoting his new movie, Cult of Chucky.
Scare Zone: Revenge of Chucky[]
This is a scare zone used in 2018 at Universal Studios Orlando, celebrating the 30th anniversary of Child's Play and revolving around a possible sequel to Cult of Chucky. The zone itself takes place in a Play Pals toy fair, with Chucky sitting on a mini theatre stage casting his voodoo spell on the toys causing them to come to life.
The scareactors are dressed as 80's toys and possessed Play Pal employees. Some of these toys include ballerinas, baby dolls, monkeys, Cabbage Patch Kids, Care Bears, and army men. There are also two stages with a giant Barrel of Monkeys and Easy Bake Oven that had been used to murder Play Pal employees.
Chucky's Good Guys Toy Box Photo Op[]
This is a photo op experience used during 2021 and 2022 at Universal Studios Orlando, promoting the TV series Chucky. Guests follow Chucky's footprints leading into the Good Guy box to have their picture taken, along with a Chucky soundbite followed by an air blast to the face. Afterwards, guests can scan a QR code to download their photo with a filter featuring Chucky.
Chucky: Ultimate Kill Count[]
This is a haunted house used in 2023 at both Universal Studios in Hollywood and Orlando, promoting the first and second seasons of the Chucky TV series. The theme involves Chucky being upset that his attraction is fake, so he kills the attraction workers and possesses the prop dolls inside to further his kill count with each guest that enters.
Haunted House Scenes: Hollywood[]
- Guests enter a hallway lined with Good Guy doll boxes, where Chucky takes swipes at them with his knife.
- Guests enter a living room, where multiple Chuckies have killed everyone inside. This continues into the kitchen, with a recreation of Annie's death, and into the bathroom with Tiffany's death.
- Guests enter the garage with a recreation of Lucas Wheeler's death.
- Guests enter a hospital where Chucky kills a woman with defibrillator paddles, while another Chucky pops out of the used needle disposal bin.
- Guests enter a Christmas-themed room with a recreation of Michelle Cross' death, as a puppet of GG sits on the couch. In the dining room, a scareactor dressed as Lexy Cross chainsaws Chucky in half.
- Guests enter a dark forest decorated with dismembered Chucky body parts. Multiple Chuckies lunge at the guests, including the Colonel, Scar-face Chucky, Pizza-face Chucky, and a burnt Tiffany.
Haunted House Scenes: Orlando[]
- Guests are greeted by Chucky wielding a ruler, surrounded by broken Good Guy doll boxes. Scareactors are killed by multiple Chuckies, including one dressed as Kyle.
- Guests enter the Play Pals toy factory, where homages are made to deaths of characters in the franchise, such as one of the Play Pals technicians, Grace Poole, and Tiffany.
- Guests enter a hospital room for a recreation of Sean Peyton's death, and further on to a recreation of Annie's death.
- Guests exit the building and enter a warehouse lined with empty Good Guy boxes, with Chucky reaching out at them. They continue to a Christmas-themed room, with a recreation of Michelle Cross' death.
- Guests enter a dark forest, where a scareactor dressed Andy warns them.
- Guests enter Incarnate Lord, with a recreation of Father Bryce's death. A scareactor dressed as Glenda appears wielding a bloody knife.
- Guests see a corpse decorated with multiple doll parts, before being attacked by scareactors possessed by Chucky.
Late Night with Chucky[]
This show is used in 2024 at Universal Studios Hollywood, where Chucky hosts a live talk show. It is styled similarly to the previously used "Chucky's Insult Emporium", except this time he only answers questions pre-submitted to him. A QR code is provided in the theatre lobby to type out questions, which must be done before the beginning of the performance. Each show lasts about twenty minutes.
