I Like to Be Hugged is the third episode in the first season of Chucky.
Synopsis[]
Chucky reminisces about his first murder, urging Jake to make a choice of killing or being killed.
Plot[]
Chucky attempts to persuade Jake to give in to his temptation to murder Lexy, remembering his encounter with an unknown serial killer assailant in 1965. Jake attempts to murder Lexy during a run, only to encounter Junior, who later tells Lexy to apologize to Jake, worried about what he's capable of. Because of this and her little sister's outburst over wanting Chucky, Lexy apologizes to Jake in hopes of having Chucky calm her sister down. Jake originally declines, but after Chucky decides to kill Lexy himself, Jake accepts and seemingly gives him up.
Meanwhile, Logan and Bree are called into a parent meeting alongside Lexy's parents due to transpired events; Concurrently, Lexy secretly hosts a rave party, with Junior, Devon, and fellow classmate Oliver in attendance. Tensions arise as Junior and Oliver compete for Lexy. Chucky accidentally stabs Oliver when he mistakes him for Lexy, murdering him upstairs as the rest of the partygoers are distracted by the blasting music, completely unaware of Oliver's screams. Chucky then corners Lexy in a room, causing a fire that engulfs the house as Jake visits his parents' graves. In a flashback to 1965, a young Charles Lee Ray helps the unknown assailant murder his parents.

- Title Card: The Chucky logo is comprised of gardening tools lit on fire.
- The song Lexy sings to Caroline is Blue Oyster Cult's Don’t Fear The Reaper.
- In Seed of Chucky, Chucky tells his child, Glen, that "killing was a family tradition for generations". However, according to this episode, Charles Lee Ray's parents, Peter and Elizabeth Ray, were loving, decent people, who tried to protect their son from an unknown serial killer, who killed Peter, while Charles killed his mother, Elizabeth, to "help" the serial killer.
- Towards the end of this episode, Lexi picks up Chucky's shoes and the camera pans to him sneaking up behind her. This is the first time we see Chucky's socks in the entirety of the franchise.
