- "Do you have any idea what you've done, Alexandra? Can you even grasp it? Your sister's in the ICU, a boy is dead, and our house, which by the way is a historic landmark that belongs to the city, is partially destroyed all because you decided to throw a party and set the place on fire."
- ―Michelle to Lexy.
Michelle Cross is the former mayor of Hackensack. She is married to Nathan and they have two daughters, Lexy and Caroline.
Chucky: Season 1 (2021)[]
She attends the middle school talent show with her family as her daughter Lexy is hosting, and sees Jake Wheeler perform with Chucky. Her daughter Caroline becomes obsessed with the doll. A week later, she and Nathan are getting ready for the "Hacky Halloween Ball", but stop to see Caroline drawing Chucky from memory. As Lexy remarks how ugly the drawing is, Michelle states that Caroline is better at doing this than anything Lexy has done in her entire life. Michelle then forces Lexy to take Caroline trick-or-treating, as she and Nathan have to go to their Halloween party.
A few days later, Michelle and Nathan attend a meeting at school about Lexy bullying Jake, with the principal and Jake's aunt Bree and uncle Logan. While waiting, Michelle asks if this will take long as she has theatre tickets and people notice when the mayor is absent. When the meeting finally starts, Michelle is insistent that her daughter is not the bully, but is shocked when they watch a video of the Halloween party where Lexy dressed as Lucas and acted out his death. After the meeting, she and Nathan are called to a fire in the Cross' house, where Lexy was hosting a party and Caroline was injured. They stay by Caroline's bedside in the ICU, only leaving when the nurses ask for space to check her oxygen saturation. While walking through the hallway, Michelle scolds Lexy as they believe she was responsible for causing Caroline's injuries, their historical house to be partially destroyed, and Oliver's death. Walking through the hospital, Michelle and Nathan run into Bree and Logan, where the four of them break out into an arguement. Logan accuses the Crosses of parenting Lexy poorly, and they accuse Logan of putting too much pressure on Junior. Logan punches Nathan in the face before the fight is split up by Detective Evans, who reveals that Oliver was murdered, and asks them to all be available for questioning.
The next day, Caroline wakes up and is finally discharged from the hospital. The family returns to their partially burned home, where Michelle already has plans to renovate the house on taxpayer money. She also grounds Lexy for an indefinite amount of time, because she caused the fire and must now live in it. After Lexy angrily storms out of the room, Michelle airs her grievances about her daughter to Nathan, and how everything she says is like "cheap silver on a mass-produced dinner plate". Nathan attempts to convince Michelle to show Lexy a little compassion, but she simply retorts that "touchy-feely Nathan" is her least favourite side of his. Later that evening, Nathan finds the partially-burned Chucky doll in Caroline's room, and goes outside to throw it in the garbage can. Michelle believes Lexy brought the doll back in to scare Caroline, and scolds her. When Nathan comes back inside, she tells him to never undermine her authority in front of their children. But she is interrupted by Nathan, who remarks that she is too focused on being Mayor instead of a mother.
The following morning at the town meeting, Michelle addresses the crowd about the recent series of murders across town. The crowd begins booing her as she insists that Hackensack has never been safer and that she is doing everything in her power to keep people safe. When Principal McVey is called to speak, her head rolls onto the stage and the curtains draw back to reveal her decapitated corpse. Sometime later after Bree's supposed suicide, Michelle and Nathan attend her wake and offer their condolences to Logan. During the wake, Michelle announces she is leaving early to attend a meeting, much to the disappointment of her husband.
At a press conference, Michelle announces that the police have a suspect in custody whom they believe is responsible for the recent murders. A journalist asks her if Kim Evans' death is also linked to these murders, but dodges answering the question and instead announces that their upcoming charity matinee of Frankenstein will still take place tomorrow as originally planned. She also mentions that a special celebrity guest will be hosting an auction prior to the screening. This is revealed to be Jennifer Tilly, who is generously donating 72 vintage Good Guy dolls from her personal collection to 72 different children's hospitals across the country.
Michelle attends the screening alone, as Nathan does not come with her. However, she is happily surprised as he joins her partway through the film. She leaves to go get popcorn, but does not realize he has been murdered when she comes back. She offers him popcorn, which he bleeds on and she unknowingly eats. As the popcorn tastes off, she looks over at her husband and finally realizes he is dead. After screaming at the top of her lungs, everyone in the theatre runs out and Michelle is knocked down and trampled by those fleeing. After the massacre has ended, she comforts Lexy and Caroline outside of the theatre, shaken by the death of her husband.
Chucky: Season 2 (2022)[]
After the theater bloodbath, Michelle begins taking Lexy and Caroline to family therapy, held by Dr. Mixter. She believes that Caroline is having a hard time accepting that her sister Lexy invited Junior, the culprit for the murders, into their lives. Lexy tries to defend Junior, explaining he was the sweetest boy in the world, but Michelle insists that Junior destroyed everything, including her husband, Caroline's childhood, and possibly her political career. Dr. Mixter gives Caroline a Wedding Belle doll to help her get over her fear of dolls.
Michelle invites the press into her home for an interview with her daughters. The reporter asks why she running for a second term in office after the townspeople overwhelming voted to recall her from office following the murders last year. She believes as a "survivor of violence", she has the empathy to relate to those who lost somebody in the killings. She also promises if she is re-elected, she will show no mercy to violent offenders. When the reporter questions Caroline about Chucky, Michelle orders him to get out of her house and leaves the room.
Michelle ends up losing the election, and instead focuses on increasing her social media following. Over Christmas, she livestreams her setting up her decorations to 100, 000 followers when Lexy comes home, bringing Jake and Devon with her. Michelle becomes frustrated with Lexy not telling her the boys were staying, and walks out. The next day, she posts a video of her nativity scene, using Caroline's Wedding Belle doll as her baby Jesus. During their Christmas Eve dinner, Lexy explains to Michelle that during her recovery she blamed her mother for everything, but she was also guilty of doing the same thing. She apologizes to Michelle as she didn't realize she was going through the same thing in hiding her pain. In return, Michelle apologizes to Lexy for the mistakes she made with her daughter.
Death[]
During the night, Tiffany breaks into the Cross residence through an unlocked side door to steal Caroline's Wedding Belle doll. Michelle hears noise and comes down the stairs to see Tiffany, happy to see "Jennifer Tilly" again. Tiffany attempts to convince her that she needs the Wedding Belle doll because the Good Guys she donated for the charity event last year never made it to the intended hospitals. Before Michelle gets the doll, she wants to post a photo of Tiffany onto her social media. However, Chucky takes this opportunity to lunge from behind and slice Michelle in half with his chainsaw.
