- "Jake, for what it's worth, in my experience, sometimes in order to forgive ourselves, first we have to forgive those who have sinned against us."
- ―Sister Catherine to Jake.
Sister Catherine is a nun at the Catholic reformatory school, Incarnate Lord.
Chucky: Season 2 (2022)[]
She leads Lexy to her new room in the girl's dormitory, and explains the rules about fraternizing with boys. Later in the day, she teaches a class about the seven deadly sins. During the class, Nadine asks why as Catholics do they need to worry about sin, as they can go to confession and have their sins forgiven. Sister Catherine explains that sins are complicated, good people do bad things for many reasons, and that redemption can't happen without a long, hard look in the mirror.
During her next class, she teaches about depictions of Christ in Western art. After class ends, she stops Jake before he leaves and asks how Devon is doing, as she heard he is sick. She mentions that sometimes when a person is overcome with guilt, they can make themselves sick, and if that is happening she is always available to talk. She pivots the conversation to Jake, and tells him that she thinks something is eating away at him, especially the death of his foster brother Gary. Jake believes he will never be able to forgive himself, but Sister Catherine remarks that in order to forgive himself he must forgive those that have sinned against him. The next day, she speaks with Father Bryce about his methods on punishing innocent kids to send a message about what is not tolerated, in this case about Jake and Devon's relationship. Just then, Jake enters the room and argues about Devon's unfair punishment. Father Bryce explains that people's sins hurt those around them before leaving the room.
Some time later, she is called into Father Bryce's office along with Sister Ruth and Dr. Mixter about his concerns for Devon, showing them the crucified Good Guy doll on the wall. He chastises the three of them for the reign of terror that has occurred since Jake, Devon and Lexy arrived. Sister Catherine remarks that perhaps these kids only need someone to talk to, as they are all traumatized. With her concerns shut down by Father Bryce, she storms off.
When Devon and Lexy go missing the next day, Father Bryce puts the school on lockdown. Sister Catherine admonishes him for treating the school like a prison and asks what he thinks he will accomplish by this. As they argue, Lexy and Devon return to the school with Andy. They claim him to be a drifter needing their Christian charity as Sister Catherine taught them. Although Father Bryce is hesitant to allow Andy to stay as the school is on lockdown, Sister Catherine agrees to help and takes Andy upstairs to the infirmary to clean his wounds.
During the evening, she and Father Bryce are walking through the halls and happen upon Dr. Mixter, who is carrying Good Chucky. As Chucky grabs for the doctor's gun, she struggles with him and accidentally shoots Sister Catherine in the arm. She and Father Bryce then witness Good Chucky running away, finally becoming aware of the living dolls at their school. She suggests to Father Bryce that they should call the police. However, before they can do anything, they are held at gunpoint by Dr. Mixter. Just in time, Kyle arrives with her own gun, and works out a plan with Dr. Mixter to perform an exorcism on Good Chucky to allow Nica and the Chucky inside her to separate. Father Bryce is put in charge of performing the exorcism, and asks Sister Catherine to assist him. In order for the exorcism to work, everyone involved must confess their sins and do their penance. Father Bryce confesses to Sister Catherine, revealing to her that he is gay and explaining the conflicts he has struggled with. When he asks for his penance, she gives him nothing as she believes he has already punished himself enough.
In the evening, the exorcism commences. Everyone restrains Chucky as Sister Catherine leads them in chanting and Father Bryce throws holy water on him. Eventually Chucky's soul is freed from the doll, at the expense of Father Bryce who is possessed and his body exploded by Chucky, killing them both. They then proceed with the soul transfer, separating the Chucky from Nica's body and allowing him to possess the Good Guy doll. Dr. Mixter takes Chucky and the two make their way out of Incarnate Lord, but are stopped as Andy shoots Chucky to death.
